Why I’m a Coach

I’m happiest when I bring clarity to the confusion and complexity faced by business leaders like you. I live to help you and your team figure things out, learn the next big thing, and implement decisions successfully.

  • When your lightbulb goes on, you feel excited because you know what to do to address the opportunity in front of you.  You fully understand the challenge and have clarity.  You gain confidence, which turns into traction, which then leads to growth.  It’s a flywheel that rolls through your entire organization.

My expertise lies in Strategic Thinking, Leadership, Talent Development, Profitability, and Customer Engagement.  Although I advise on it, Execution of your decisions lie with you.  As a coach, I can’t suit up and enter the game.  I rely on the Rock & Sand Model™ (based on my book of the same name) to get started on Strategy and use mostly tools and concepts from the 7Attributes of Agile Growth™ when addressing the rest.

I’ve been a coach my entire life, first as a high school coach, then as a business executive and for the past twenty I’ve coached business and non profit leaders.  It’s how I have created success, coaching others to improve and grow.  Learn More below.

How it Works

  • I’m flexible enough to work with you the way you want to work. Most often it involves working with your team, sometimes it’s better to work one on one.
  • We’ll establish your starting point which is the unique set of challenges and opportunities and how we might tackle. I’ll be asking a lot of questions.
  • Sometimes it’s tune up, addressing a specific situation, sometimes it’s an annual engagement where we create and execute a Strategic Plan (Growth Roadmap), sometimes we start with a tune up and move to a Growth Roadmap.

Rock & Sand (TM)

Rock & Sand is both the title of my book and the name of my practice.  Rock & Sand is also a model, a language, and a starting point that serves as “The Bridge Between Strategy and Action” for an organization. It uncovers opportunities and the means for acting on them, while creating the team alignment necessary for unleashing growth.

While all organizations face obstacles to growth, agile organizations learn how to overcome them.
